After series of hits like Judwaa, Mujhse Shaadi Karoge (Salman) and Aankhen, Raja Babu, Coolie No.1, Hero No. 1 (Govinda), director David Dhawan brings together his favorite comedian combination both Salman & Govinda in Partner. With changing time and taste of audience, Zero logic comic caper maker brings yet another contemporary comedy – Partner. Based upon, Will Smith’s Hollywood hit Hitch (2005), Partner features hot babes Lara & Katrina along with Salman & Govinda.
David had blatantly copied popular Bollywood comedy classics like Do Phool (Ankhen), Hero No. 1 (Bawarchi) in past, but now he trying his hands upon Hollywood capers. As in Hitch, Partner tells a story of a ‘date doctor’, Prem (Salman) who teaches the so called losers to get back into the dating track and get their dream partners. In his childhood he understood a woman’s likes and dislikes in food, clothes or men. Even though his profession sounds bit crazy, he has some ethics though. This doctor gives prescriptions to only those patients who are looking for serious relationships, not one night stand type of guys.
One of his favorite patients is Govinda, who is in love with Katrina Kaif, the rich and famous daughter of an industrialist tycoon. Apart from this patient, He himself is in love with one newspaper journo, Naina (Lara Dutta). He tries all of his tricks of the trade, but its no match for Naina. The movie is all about how finally they both win their respective hearts, and the comic hurdles they go through to get those ladies. Technically speaking the storyline seems frame to frame copy of Hitch. Though Hitch grossed 177 million dollars at US box office, we will have to just wait and watch how its knockoff will fare at Bollywood box office.
